Photos on acrylic also known as “PlexiMounts” are similar to Diasec® (a process invented by Heinz Sovilla-Brulhart in 1969) Photo images are printed on glossy or metallic photo paper. The print is then face-mounted using an optically clear glue onto acrylic. Once the face-mount is finished the image is back-mounted with a metal composite material called dibond. The back of the dibond is braced with an aluminum back-frame that allows the work to be hung on suitable wall hooks (provided). The back-frame is hidden behind the artwork and leaves the picture floating in front of the wall.
Photos on acrylic give your images a beautiful, modern look. Because the image is face-mounted directly to the acrylic, the final product is a vivid almost 3 dimensional print. Your Image can be printed on Sunset Select Photo Metallic (warm tone), Kodak Professional Metallic (cool tone) or Premium Photo Gloss.
We offer our PlexiMounts in different acrylic thicknesses and finishes, such as 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″ and 1/2″ thick. You can choose from Gloss acrylic or Non-glare acrylic (to reduce reflection). The acrylic sides can be clear polished or just smooth. There is no need to frame the final artwork.
