Children’s art on Canvas Giclee Prints

I started scanning my children’s artwork as soon as they began putting crayon to paper. I thought it was a great way to preserve it as well as being able to reproduce it. I have made (with my wife’s help) many wonderful family presents with our children’s art, from Holiday cards, to note cards, print art to canvas, prints on art papers, books etc.

Our parents and siblings love to get these special gifts created by their grand kids, nice and nephew. We feel proud as parents as well as artists to share the creations our children have made.

Maybe your child or grandchild has created an incredible painting or drawing in art class. We can scan it and print to canvas or paper making it a great gift to other family members and close friends. Scanning your child’s artistic work will for ever protect it from damage and aging. Preserving artwork is also an excellent way to reduce clutter, while digitizing and storing the originals for safekeeping. Just think of the many different gifts you can create with these mini-masterpieces, either as print to canvas or fine art papers, note cards, calendars, books, the options are limitless!

Have your children help you sort the stacks of art piling up in your home. It’s not only a great way to avoid throwing out favorites, but it also provides a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your child’s artistic interests and process.

It creates a lot of self confidence in my children to see their art valued and shown in our house and to other family members. A great idea is to create an “Art Wall” with the chosen art displayed in the house. Another great idea is to send the canvas or framed prints as gifts to family. We also do our Holiday Cards this way. The kids draw the card with a Holiday headline and our family and friends love it.

Be sure to write down as much information as you can about each piece because we can add it directly on the prints to create a really unique gift:

  • the title
  • date of completion
  • school grade
  • what your child was thinking when creating his or her art

Scanning your child’s artwork not only opens up a world of options in terms of sharing and preserving the pieces; it also means that if needed, you can box away the originals. Not only will this free up more space in your home, it will ensure the original won’t be worn and torn after show and tell, and that both sets of grandparents can get their own prints!

You can even preserve and share arts and crafts that aren’t perfectly flat by scanning 3 dimensional pieces. Our equipment is perfect for capturing every little detail as well as accurate color, you will have a very difficult time distinguishing the prints from the originals!

Original works are directly scanned with a high end large format scanner. The images go through our extensive color profiling and proofing process and a proof is printed on the fine art paper or canvas chosen by the artist. The proof is examined, if needed minor color correction is applied to the digital file and a second proof is printed. Once the proof is approved by the artist and signed by the artist we are ready to print. The edition can be printed on an “as needed basis” with the same consistent quality as the artist proof. The signed and approved artist’s proof is archived by Prints Giclee Shop to ensure the consistent quality of the edition.
