I started scanning my children’s artwork as soon as they began putting crayon to paper. I thought it was a great way to preserve it as well as being able to reproduce it. I have made (with my wife’s help) many wonderful family presents with our children’s art, from Holiday cards, to note cards, print art to canvas, prints on art papers, books etc. Our parents and siblings love to get these special gifts created by their grand kids, nice and nephew. We feel proud as parents as well as artists to share the creations our children have made. Maybe your child or grandchild has created an incredible painting or drawing in art class. We can scan it and print to canvas or paper making it a great gift to other family members and close friends. Scanning your child’s artistic work will for ever protect it from damage and aging. Preserving artwork is also an excellent way to reduce clutter, while digitizing and storing the originals for safekeeping. Just think of the many different gifts you can create with these mini-masterpieces, either as print to canvas or fine art papers, note cards, calendars, books, the options are limitless! Have your children help you sort the stacks of art piling up in your home. It’s not only a great way to avoid throwing out favorites, but it also provides a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your child’s artistic interests and process. It creates a lot of self confidence in my children to see their art valued and shown in our house and to other family members. A great idea is to create an “Art Wall” with the chosen art displayed in the house. Another great idea is to send the canvas or framed prints as gifts to family. We also do our Holiday Cards this way. The kids draw the card with a Holiday headline and our family and friends love it.
Be sure to write down as much information as you can about each piece because we can add it directly on the prints to create a really unique gift:
