Michelle Lowe

Michelle Lowe is an wonderful Florida artist, an artist with more than a keen eye for detail.  She sees the beauty in the oceans surrounding her home in Islamorada of the Florida Keys. Focusing on the painted portraits of the fish that swim on and around the reefs not far from her beachfront home Michelle finds a way to portray these strange and beautiful creatures.  Her  paintings are then sold as originals, or limited edition prints on fine art paper, or on stretched canvas. She has even made small and large stunning images of her work on the relatively new process known as Pleximounting or Diasec printing. This process involves mounting the image printed on metallic photographic paper between plexiglass and an aluminum composite background.

Michelle has recently participated in open air art shows around the state of Florida with great success and acceptance for her wonderful art. The month of December is filled with so many events in our city of Miami. Not to mention all of the holiday festivities that we were  already anticipating with our friends and families. This year PrintsGicleeShop.Com had the privilege to have been involved with several artists that presented their work in different Miami venues during the now famous Art Basel Week.

Aida Tejada a local photographer enlisted our help in producing her art on various mediums such as canvas giclees, transfer film images, conventional photographs on fine art papers that included metallic papers and fine art German etching papers. The metallic prints were also used in making large and small format pleximounts that were absolutely stunning in content and color. Several were over mounted with half inch plexiglass mounted to aluminum composite backing and had a three dimensional effect. Beautiful execution of art combined with presentation. Hard combinations to beat. A stunning group of shows involving her work in several local Wynwood galleries and Miami Beach.

David Siqueiros an internationally acclaimed fashion photographer also had our studio print and install a very large show that utilized almost the entire grand lobby of the Miami Intercontinental Hotel. First time exhibited and possibly one of the last photographic sittings of the famous iconic Pop Artist, Andy Warhol, were displayed in different formats and mediums too.  We were commissioned to print on large panels of stretched canvas photographs that were tweaked by the photographer to portray a “Pop Art” rendition of the legend, Andy Warhol. Other images that were on display were his large format traditional black and white photos printed by  our company PrintsGicleeShop.Com. These photographs alone were four feet tall and three feet wide. The aforementioned canvas panels stood over eleven feet in height and spanned a distance of nearly twenty feet per image. Huge, Andy Warhol, huge! Other work that we produced for David Siqueiros were large format backlit film mounted on plexiglass of local artists and famous Miami notables including Donald Pliner the shoe giant and his wife Lisa Pliner holding Baby Doll, their pet West Highland Terrier. Six separate large plexiglass and backlit photographs of these local notables were located in the large bar area in the Intercontinental Miami lobby  too. They are still on site even after the Art Basel Weekend so stop by for a drink and take a look!

Artspace Gallery Miami was proud to present the First Annual iPhoneography Miami Exhibition that had its Opening Night on Friday, January 20th, 2012. The show will be on display until February 17th and is open and complimentary to the public. The show was an open call to artists worldwide. The rules stipulated that all submissions had to be created and edited using only the iPhone. Artspace Gallery Miami had submissions from around the globe from countries like New Zealand, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, all states of the United States of America  and many more. Only twenty five images were chosen by our jury of three notables, Jaime Ferreyros (iPhoneographer extraordinaire and television producer), Laurie Escobar (Assistant Director of the Diana Lowenstein Gallery, Wynwood), and Aida Tejada (international fine arts photographer). Soaring Sunday – Jaime Ferreyros

As I am trying to bring this blog up and online I will be moving forward in time, staying in place, and sometimes travelling back in time. In this case and in the next couple of blogs I will travel back to the future and discuss and post photos of the show we hosted at Artspace Gallery Miami on April 15 of this year. We were proud to host one of the preeminent artists of our time doing wonderful and inspiring work using nothing other than the iPhone. The relatively new art form of photographing images and using the iPhone as the camera to be its own darkroom and manipulate the images totally within the phone has come to be popularly known as iPhoneography.

If you were lucky enough to see Jaime’s large scale fine art prints at our gallery during the opening and the ensuing month you know that his images are, to use a cliche, simply amazing!

Jaime will be exhibiting in several locations during this upcoming season including several satellite shows during Art Basel Miami. His list of accomplishments is too extensive for me to print here but watch out for this gentleman’s work. He will impress the most discriminating collector. You heard it here…and I am sure you will hear about his work more and more in the years to come.

Aida Tejada - Alliance Francaise Opening - Photos on Backlit Film

Aida Tejada – Alliance Francaise – Miami – Photo Transfers on Wood

Aida Tejada, a Miami artist, recently had an opening for her  solo show at the Alliance Francaise Miami presenting her work produced by PrintsGicleeShop.com. Ms. Tejada presented her needs to us and we were more than happy to suggest some althernatives to the traditional printing methods that she had used in the past. Among these cutting edge ideas is the large format print pictured below of a Pleximount (Diasec) abstract photo by the artist printed on metallic paper and then mounted between a layer of plexiglass and brushed aluminum backing. The finished print (34″ x 96″)  was then hung with an aluminum framing system that gave the overall piece a three dimensional look as if it were floating away from the wallspace. Several of her large scale photos were printed in this manner and displayed beautifully representing her work in a manner new to the artist. Ms. Tejada also had our studio print several pieces on a translucent backlit film that were then hung randomly in front of a window at the gallery allowing the light from behind to float wonderfully through the pieces with a result that was quite pleasing depending on the time of day and shadows produced to enhance and change the ambiance of the piece throughout the day and into the evening.  For more information on Aida Tejada’s show at the Alliance Francaise  at 305.859.8760.
